1. Basketball at Northridge, Friday, Nov. 20th, (JV/GV/BV). Basketball at Central, Tuesday, Nov.24th, (JV/GV/BV).
2 PRIDE will collect canned goods throughout November 20th to help Temporary Emergency Services this holiday season. All PRIDE members are asked to donate at least 2 canned goods. The drop box is located in the office lobby.
3. Beta Club Members! Don't forget to bring your empty paper boxes and Christmas wrapping to tutoring on Thursday. We need these items for the Toy Drive.!
4. Natalie Clarke, the Lecturer Supervisor at Barbizon Lecture, will visit Holt High on Wednesday, Nov. 18th for an informal lunch visit, known as a Career Café.
5. Flag and dance try-outs will be held December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Flag try-outs are open to all male and female students and dance try-outs are open to female students. There will be a $25 fee and a physical will be required. All that are interested please see Mrs. Gordon in room 207 for try-out packets starting Monday, November 9th, 2009.
6. Students! Don't forget to come to after school tutoring on Thursday at 3:15 in the library. There are math, physics, chemistry, history, English, and language tutors available to help with homework, projects, Grad. Exam - whatever you need!
7. Teachers, please check your email from Nov. 17th from Mrs. Dixon that list the names of students that must meet with her on Thursday, Nov. 19th at 8:45. If you have any of those students in your first period class, tell them to bring their email addresses with them. If they do not have an email account, Mrs. Dixon will create one for them.
8. Seniors! The Class of 2010 T-Shirts is here. See Mrs. Airne during break to pick your shirt up.
9. The University of Alabama's Creative Writing Club (CWC) is seeking talented high school writers from all over the Tuscaloosa area for an after-school intensive creative writing experience. The CWC will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, January 27th through April 28th, 2010. There is NO FEE! To sign up see Mrs. Airne or your English teacher or go to www.bama.ua.edu/cwc
10. The TUSCALOOSA COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY is offering a Health career Scholarship. The purpose of the Tuscaloosa County medical Society scholarship is to acknowledge a Senior Student in the Tuscaloosa County area who has demonstrated excellence through leadership, community involvement, work experience, academic achievement, and interest in pursuing a health related profession. Financial need will be considered when awarding the scholarship. This scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000.00 to be used for tuition, books, or supplies at an accredited school, community college, or university of the recipient's choice. Interested Students need to see Mrs. Hamilton for more information. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is February 1, 2010.
11. Hey Chess players, please listen up... The Black Warrior Chess Challenge is being held at the Boys & Girls Club in Tuscaloosa on December 5th. You must register by December 1st. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
12. Tuscaloosa's One Place is sponsoring an essay contest/opportunity entitled A Legacy of Love. All students are asked to nominate a couple whose marriage positively influences children, grandchildren, and others in the community, creating generational blessings and, due to their example, leaving A legacy of Love for others to aspire and for generations to come. Winnings couples will be honored at a February 19th banquet sponsored by the TOP, local churches and businesses. The essay length is to be 350 - 500 words (1 page TYPED!). The deadline to submit is December 1st. Nomination form cover sheets will be available in the Counseling Center or in your English teacher's classroom.
